Tournaments & Rankings

What is a Tournament?

A Tournament is a competitive promotion powered by the CompetitionLabs leaderboard engine. Eligible participants compete against one another by completing configured activities and generating a score. The engine places every participant on a live leaderboard, where their position reflects their performance relative to the other entrants.

What is a Ranking?

A Ranking is a participant’s calculated position on the Tournament leaderboard. As qualifying activity is processed, the participant’s score and position are updated. Rankings make progress visible throughout the promotion and determine the final order used when awarding position-based rewards.

HOW THE TOURNAMENT ENGINE WORKS

The Tournament engine converts eligible member activity into a competitive leaderboard:
  • Entrants define which members can participate.
  • Products and rules define which activities qualify.
  • Scoring converts qualifying activity into leaderboard points or results.
  • Rankings order participants according to the configured scoring strategy.
  • Rewards can be assigned to specific positions or ranking ranges.

The leaderboard continues to update while the Tournament is active, giving operators and participants a current view of the competition.

Managing Tournaments & Rankings

Tournaments & Rankings Advance section

The Tournaments & Rankings Advance section gives operators access to the complete Tournament configuration and lifecycle. From here, you can create a Tournament, review its setup, monitor its leaderboard, manage its state, clone it for reuse, or archive it when it is no longer needed.

A shared competitive experience

The leaderboard is the centre of every Tournament. It gives each participant a clear view of their current position and the progress required to move ahead of other entrants. Because all participants are measured by the same configured scoring strategy, the Tournament creates a transparent competitive experience from the first qualifying action to the final ranking.

Tournaments can also form part of a wider promotional experience. Their rankings and rewards can support other promotions, while Boosters can modify the scores members earn during the Tournament. This allows a leaderboard competition to work as a standalone campaign or as one part of a broader promotional programme.
